Homecoming. An annual tradition hosted by Brownsburg High School that celebrates the school spirit of both the students and alumni with a homecoming parade, a five-day week filled with varieties of different school spirit themes before wearing the signature purple in pride for the BHS Varsity Football team during the game on Friday.  There’s also the coronation of the BHS Homecoming King and Queen and finally comes the heavily-anticipated homecoming dance to end the hectic weekend off on a Saturday evening. But with the topic on the Homecoming dance, many people have different perspectives.

Bryson Foxen, a junior at BHS:

  • How do you prepare for a day like the Homecoming dance?

“I always plan a week or two in advance because planning early is never a bad thing. Homecoming is a laid back kind of prom, so it’s less formal and nice. It doesn’t take a lot of time for Homecoming, but still always plan early”.

  • Do you prefer to go with group of friends or with bae? And why?

“I like going with friends because I like to mess around and have fun, but I prefer to go with my girlfriend because it’s just a fun night.”

  • What’s your best memory of Homecoming?

“Best memory of Homecoming was when me and my friends made a dance circle, and we got everybody to come to it, and we all just danced in it, and it was just crazy fun.”

  • What do you look most forward to in Homecoming?

“I look forward to good music and good memories with my friends and date.”

  • If there’s one improvement you’d like to make about the Homecoming dance, what would it be?

“Just let loose and have fun. Also to girls, don’t jump in high heels in the dark–it’s just a bad idea…We don’t need another EMS called during the dance.

Spencer Ray, a junior at BHS:

  • How do you prepare for a day like the Homecoming dance?

“Very carefully. Have to plan everything out. Say you’re going to leave for Homecoming ten minutes earlier, so that way when your friend screws up, you don’t come late”

  • Do you prefer to go with group of friends or with bae? And why?

“Friends, duh. Because I dance a lot, and it’s not good dancing. It’s really gross to see me dance.”

  • What’s your best memory of Homecoming?

“Looking sharp.”

  • What do you look most forward to in Homecoming?

“Looking nice.”

  • If there’s one improvement you’d like to make about the Homecoming dance, what would it be?

“Better themes.”

Gabriel Copley, a junior at BHS:

  • How do you prepare for a day like the Homecoming dance?

“I prepared by going to Kohl’s and buying my outfit to match my girls and then picking up my girl and taking pics, and then we left for the dance.”

  • Do you refer to go with group of friends or with bae? And why?

“Prefer with bae because I can have a lot of more fun with her. It would be memorable and enjoyable.”

  • What’s your best memory of Homecoming?

“My best memory is dancing and laughing with Chyann.”

  • What do you look most forward to in Homecoming?

“I look forward to the big game during homecoming.”

  • If there’s one improvement you’d like to make about the Homecoming dance, what would it be?

“An improvement would have been to have different themes. Lol spice it up.”
