Brogan Smith, a junior at BHS, did a lot of interesting things over the months of quarantine.
“Over quarantine I worked out a lot, rode my horse a lot, and spent more time with my family,” she said. “I did not learn any new skills; I practiced the skills I already knew.”
This is different from what was usually being done during quarantine. Most people sat at home and didn’t do anything or just went to work. “Something new I did over quarantine was that I redid my entire room and I have never done that before,” Smith said.
Smith said she also spent time with her horses and family.
“I spent most of my time working with my horse and getting better at it. I didn’t do anything special with my family, but I did get to spend a lot of time with them since we were all stuck in the same house for so long.”
While over quarantine, Smith learned a lot about her family.
“Something new I learned about my family was how irritated we get with each other when we can’t see and talk to other people,” she said. “I didn’t necessarily want to learn it; it was just something I learned over time.”
Over quarantine she missed not being able to see her friends every day and being able to go out and go places. She didn’t miss having to wake up early and going to school. She didn’t miss it because she could sleep in everyday over quarantine.
Jack Ornelas, a junior at BHS, used his time at home to learn a new language.
“I think I was the only person following quarantine protocol. The only kind of cool thing I did was learned to speak a bit of Portuguese on top of German. I used Duolingo to learn all about it”
