UFC Fight Night 259

Luke Kiritschenko

This weekend, March 6th, UFC 259 will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Apex stadium. As with all UFC fights, the Preliminary matches will be free on ESPN, but the main card and early Preliminaries require ESPN+ or the fight pass.

The fight is headlined with a light-heavyweight matchup between Jan Blachowicz and Israel Adesanya, who are both champions in their respective divisions. Israel Adesanya was originally a middleweight fighter, but moved up to light-heavyweight for his match up against Jan, and is still undefeated after his recent title fight against Paula Costa. This matchup is the sixth time in UFC history that champions in different divisions will fight for the same title.

Blachowicz is the underdog with odds being in favor of Adesanya at +240 for Jan and -240 for Adesanya.

The co-main event is Amanda Nunes, the current UFC bantamweight champion, versus Megan Anderson, Invicta FC featherweight champion, in a featherweight division fight. Nunes is the crowd favorite at -1100, with Anderson being the underdog at +700. Peter Yan and Aljamain Sterling compete for the UFC Bantamweight championship title.

Yan is the current holder, with Sterling competing for the title. Yan is the crowd favorite at -120 odds; however, Sterling has been given a solid chance at only +100 odds, meaning this fight will be a close one.

UFC 259 is an extremely stacked card with three title fights and the appearance of legendary names, such as the undefeated Israel Adesanya and the extremely popular Amanda Nunes. Anticipate extremely close fights with superb narration from the podcaster Joe Rogan. If you are new to UFC, this card is highly recommended and a great entrance into the sport.
