There are many language art classes at BHS to choose from every year, but consequently, many of them get overlooked, one of them being Film Literature.
Film literature is a class that started last year and is currently taught by Katherine Wisely who also teaches AP English Composition. The class has 12 students this semester, making it one of the least chosen classes at BHS.
“Overall, the class has been great so far. We get to learn about different techniques used in movies and seeing them in action when watching movies,” junior Hudson Cordell said.
There are many elements’ people don’t see when casually watching a movie, and Film Literature offers a different perspective to students, allowing them to think deeply about what goes on in a movie. People who are intrested in films are given an oppertunity to really think about potentially going deeper into film study as well.
Film Literature goes into diverse genres like horror, romance, comedy and more, while also presenting movies classic to modern. Many students get a chance to enjoy films while being able to analyze the tiny bits and pieces. Already this year, the class has watched “Rear Window”, “Some Like It Hot” and “Jaws”.
“I definitely would recommend this class to anyone who would like to learn more about movies and watching some monumental films. It isn’t challenging and [is a] very fun class that I look forward to!” said Cordell.
