Brownsburg High School had the opening of their spring play, “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” on Friday, April 18, 2025.
“It’s unlike anything that I’ve ever done before,” theater director Jamie Keeler said. “The show is an extremely powerful play to do.”
This play is based after a novel that was published in 2003. This is an action-packed show with main character Christopher Boone, a 15-year-old boy with autism. Christopher is investigating the murder of a dog and while doing so, he finds out more about himself and his family.
It is important to know this show isn’t about Christopher’s autism—it is showing him as a person.
“Even though the play itself isn’t necessarily about autism, you do get a better understanding of what that world is like,” Keeler said.
“The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” aims to show overstimulation and gives a look into Christopher’s world.
“The importance of this show is to show that no matter what you struggle with, you can really do anything that you want to do if you try hard enough,” said Megan Haddock, a freshman student at BHS that performed in this play.
The show had an average of around 150 people attending a night.
The actors in the cast were like a close-knit family. They felt comfortable and very supported around each other.
“They’re incredibly supportive,” Haddock said. “Nobody really gets mad at anybody. There’s never been like an argument or anything.”
