Senior year, the final year of high school, is a precarious moment for many students. It’s a time when seniors hurry to complete their high school bucket lists, trying to make lasting memories with friends before the next stage of their lives. Whether you’re going into the military, taking a gap year to work or travel or heading straight to college, everyone wants the same thing: to have an unforgettable last year.
For many students, a senior year bucket list provides a roadmap for the year ahead. As senior Keira Gora puts it, “I want to go on a senior trip with my friends for spring break. I want to be accepted into IU and I want to go to all the football games.”
For many students, making a senior year bucket list gives them something to look forward to this school year. From a survey collected from BHS students, about 90% of the participants said they wanted to spend time with friends. About 74% wanted to go to senior sunset and participate in the spirit days.
For others, the list is more personal. “I want to get into college and maybe I want to get a second piercing,” senior Faith Opafola said.
Many students, if given the chance to do things all over again, would make different choices.
“I would select courses that align with my major better, know what I want to do in college for the majority of high school,” senior Anna Blahnik said.
Senior year to a lot of people is the time to do all the things they’ve been wanting to experience in their high school years, but most seniors’ bucket list includes the same things.
Senior Lyla Sharp said, “I want to get into college and have fun.”
While everyone’s bucket list is unique, some experiences are universal. Here are the top 10 things seniors are interested in doing this year:
