In a world that is oftentimes concealed by superficialities, in which the weight of mental health problems simply gets ignored, the non-profit organization Bring Change to Mind (BC2M) comes to BHS. Their initiative is to remove the misconceptions/discrimination of the human-state or as Club President Gretchen Baron exclaimed,To Slay the Stigma!”

Mental Health is very relevant at BHS. “It’s on a daily basis that students are stressed. They say their mental health is trash,English teacher and club sponsor Taylor Budzikowski shared. When asked what mental health means to her Budzikowski described it as an iceberg. “There’s so much under the surface,” Budzikowski said.

In honor of suicide prevention month, BC2M spread posters around the school bathrooms. They read the warnings/ symptoms of depression and what to say and what not to say to someone suffering with depression.

It’s important to keep an eye out for the signs. “Not everybody looks like they have mental health problems; people are good at hiding it,” Baron said.
