The Rise of the Fried Chicken

The journey of Mr. Douglas’ homemade fried chicken
The Rise of the Fried Chicken

Teachers and staff at BHS do not spend their whole life grading papers or scheduling classes for students; they each do different things in their free time.

Mr. Chris Douglas is one of the Team 2025 counselors, and in his free time, he cooks homemade chicken wings. “I first started making chicken wings when I was 17 years old. My mother taught all of her children how to cook just in case we needed to survive on our own, so it was something that was important to her to pass down,” Douglas said.

There are varieties of fried chicken he prepares. “It is seasoned, it is breaded and it is fried,” Douglas responded. He does not leave his chicken like that. He has around eight different flavors, and he also makes those from scratch. Some of them are buffalo, BBQ and teriyaki.

Not only does Douglas make fried chicken, but he also makes desserts. When he cooks and bakes, it helps him release some stress.

This idea of making fried chicken did not come from nowhere. During one of the meetings that he had with his colleagues, he brought his fried chicken and “everyone destroyed the wings that I made within 10 minutes,” Douglas said.

His inspiration to start selling his wings came when one of his good friends at the time suggested that he should start something with his chicken. “Thus, the Duggos was born,” Douglas stated.

When Douglas was younger, everyone called him “Mr. Duggy” which is what inspired the name.

Not only does he like cook wings, but he enjoys making videos and posting them on social media. He gets excited to do this because he gets to record, take pictures find different music like country and R&B. “It’s always about just making people happy, being able to be something that people need or want, being needed,” Douglas mentioned.

Douglas does this because he enjoys it, but he also does it for others to enjoy the wings, make the eaters happy with all the different flavors and to make people happy.

Douglas cannot tell people about how he cooks the chicken because it’s from his mother, and he wants to keep it in the family to be pasted down.
