Winter is right around the corner and the holiday season is coming up. So? What are some activities you can do while the temperatures change?
Here at BHS, we have plenty of students and staff to ask: What are things you do when the temperature starts to drop and rain becomes snow?
Junior Isabella Dunigan likes to “hang out with friends and go sledding,” but when she is not doing that, she likes to “play lacrosse inside.” Have you ever played lacrosse? Maybe you want to consider trying it out.
Freshman Summer Hayes has some fun and said, “I do winter guard.” For anyone one else who thought ‘It’s too cold to for that’, winter guard happens inside, so no need to brave the cold.
If you are a staff member or teacher wondering ‘well these are like things teenagers do’, I have some things the staff around BHS enjoy doing.
Media Center Assistant Sarah Guise does not like the cold. “So I’m not a huge fan of the cold,” she said. A lot of people could agree that the cold is not for everyone, but she ends up shoveling. “We do like to shovel snow together; we will do it as a family.” Maybe just spending time with family will do you some good.
She also likes to “stay inside and watch Hallmark movies and cozy up under blankets with the fireplace on.” Just staying in with the heat and watching movies while you’re cozy and by your fireplace or in that warmth of a blanket can be a great way to spend the winter season.
English teacher Brett Bayne said, “Mostly I hang out with my kids and go to the Children’s Museum and do things like that.” Spending time with your family could just be one of the best things to do. Plus, if you really want your kids to have fun, Bayne said that he “embraced the cold and hit up the zoo because they have the lights thing.” If your kids like animals and they like Christmas things at the zoo, they could have a wonderful time with the lights and all the animals.
These are some of the things students and staff do when the winter comes creeping around the corner and summer starts to fade away.
With all of that said, have an amazing holiday season and enjoy the snow or the warmth of your couch. Consider inviting some friends or family over and have a blast with everyone you love.
