There are many interesting ways for students to express themselves, and fashion is a big part of people’s lives and identities. Students can use it as an art medium to display their creativity and interests. It makes the day interesting when you see unique styles that other students can portray in themselves, whether it’s baggy jeans, custom-made pants/tops or even just styled clothing layers.
With the fact that fashion can serve as personal identity, it can also give a sense of belonging. For example, people who wear similar band shirts may associate with each other, and people with the same fashion aesthetics may do the same.
The other part that makes students’ fashion so unique is their brand choices and how they obtain clothes. Some students wear high-end fashion that includes designer brands; others will thrift for their clothes and find something one-of-a-kind.
Someone who is expressive with their fashion a lot is junior Eli Chambers, who said, “I honestly normally thrift my clothes, but if I had to choose brands, I have a lot from Le Fleur, PERSONSOUL, VETEMENTS and Rick Owens.”
Chambers likes designer brands but also chooses to thrift most of his clothes, which leads to the unique outfit pieces that he wears daily.
Another interesting part of Chambers’ fashion influences is his outfits.
“I think a lot of celebrities I like [influence me]. Andrew 3000, A$AP Rocky. But I also like cartoons, and I think I take inspiration from that,” Chambers said.
Aspects such as that are what can make fashion such a very intricate thing and can act as art for anyone.
Student fashion is a fantastic way for students to express their interest or even skills in dressing; it is an interesting way that people here show what they like and are interested in. There’s an infinite number of possibilities and outfits that students can create and style.
