The world of celebrities is complex and sometimes confusing. Everyone has their biases and even biases against biases. Some of the grand names of 2025, collected from TikTok, Twitter and YouTube, include Taylor Swift, Chappell Roan, Tom Holland and Dolly Parton. Celebrities range from singers to athletes, from actors to influencers. No matter the platform or the name, they all play a great part in digital and social culture.
It’s more of a popular mindset to consider not only a celebrity’s talent, but also their social behavior. It’s hard to be considered a hot-shot-success if your attitude doesn’t fit the budget. Celebs can gain a mass following for different reasons besides reaching out to their audience, such as making them laugh, inspiring separate projects and standing up for what they believe in, even off camera. A part of the culture will not only draw people towards a celebrity’s content but also expose themselves to other fans of the star, bringing together a lovely, diverse melting pot of fandom.
Of course, celebrity culture isn’t always good or grand. Some aspects of the culture have been dubbed off-putting, and even dangerous to some extent. Obsession is a powerful force that can get a strong grip on any die-hard fan. It can be as harmless as a trove of merch, or as disturbing as downright paparazzi assault. Besides taking the thought of the celebrity out of their own hands, it can make some people reclusive and stop taking care of themselves due to intense hyperfixation. It’s important to be able to separate fiction from reality, and even though celebrities certainly exist in real life, it’s difficult to remember that their lives are completely separate from your own. Taking a reality check is good for everyone sometimes.
Still, no matter if their influence is negative or positive, it’s obvious that celebrities have cemented their place in almost everything from fashion to music and even public mannerism. Great celebrities will inspire creation; they can give people motivation to try new things or just have something fun to discuss. It’s important for everything to be in moderation, but at the end of the day, we all just wanna have fun!
