Pink glittery bubbles set the ambience. The long-awaited clashing between justice and popularity is finally here, so put your witch’s hats, wands down and fantasies up. “Wicked: For Good” is coming tonight and this is what to expect.
The famous franchise “Wicked” is releasing its second part, “Wicked: For Good”, inspired by the second act of the stage musical “Wicked” in which Elphaba and Glinda’s relationship unravels as Elphaba becomes a fugitive and Glinda becomes part of the wizard’s administration.
“Wicked: For Good” has a prediction of $130-155 million on the opening weekend, with some forecasts exceeding $900 Million on cinemas worldwide. “Wicked: For Good” is officially being released at GTQ Brownsburg 7:00 PM Friday, November 21.
Wicked’s second part brings new emotional possibilities for the protagonist’s relationship and a deeper dive on the political crisis recurring in Oz. There are some past cast members who won’t be joining this adventure, including Idina Menzel, who previously brought life to the character of Elphaba Thropp on the first Broadway production of “Wicked”. Then Kristin Chenoweth played the complex character of Glinda Upland by Menzel’s side. Both played cameo parts in the Wicked movie.

Keala Settle will be playing a new character named Miss Coddle. Peter Dinklage will give the voice to Doctor Dillamond and finally the voice actor, Sharon D. Clarke, will give life to the character of Dulcibear. Although there are new cast members playing the characters from the acclaimed movie “The wizard of Oz”, including Colman Domingo as the voice of the cowardly lion and actress Alisha Weir as Dorothy, they won’t be the focus of this magical tale.
“They won’t be a major plot point considering this story is focused on Glinda and Elphaba’s relationship,” director Jon M. Chu said in an interview with Deadline. “I didn’t want to step on who you think Dorothy is in whatever story you came into this with.”
The trailer of “Wicked: For Good” sets up high expectations for this prominent franchise. It reveals an emotional and physical confrontation between characters Elphaba and Glinda, hinting at a wreck in their relationship regarding their opposite sides of the political revolution.
“Jon M. Chu is a genius in the way he brings this to a close,” Jazz Tangcay, an entertainment journalist, said. “Elphaba and Glinda’s stories are expanded and leave you with an emotional gut punch at the end.”
Along with the original soundtrack of “Wicked” with songs such as “Wonderful”, “As Long As You’re Mine” and “Good Deed”, fans of the franchise are also anticipating new songs like “No Place Like Home”, a solo by British actress, Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and “The Girl in The Bubble”, another solo by actress and singer, Ariana Grande as Glinda.
“What I love most about it is that… it is such a narrative piece for her,” Grande said about Glinda in a Deadline interview. “I’m so glad that we get to see her experience that moment of change, that to make that choice to begin the chapter of being truly good.”
Don’t wait any longer to buy your tickets. “Wicked: For Good” is getting closer every day and new adventures await to be portrayed on the big screen.
