“As You Like It” is a Shakespearean play written around 1599. It is a comedy about the disputes of brothers.
BHS put on this play on April 17, 2026 and April 18, 2026. BHS’ version of this play will be set in the 1960s instead of the original time frame. Originally, they were supposed to do “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” but due to construction near the auditorium, they had to change the play.
‘That is so magic-heavy that not having a location to rehearse made that just not feasible,” said theatre teacher and director Jamie Keeler.
When Keeler told the students that they were doing “As You Like It” by Shakespeare, they were excited to not be doing “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”.
“I don’t like that play, but I was definitely scared to do Shakespeare,” senior Terran Curtis said.

With this change, it did make the show harder based on the language used in Shakespearean plays. Since BHS has never done a play like this, it pushed the actors to be more artsy than what they would have done in the original play.
“I really think it’s important for the kids to be exposed to something that’s that classic,” Keeler said.
While acting is a major part of the show, the bonds made between the actors became stronger than ever.
“I think I’ve just gotten so incredibly close to some of my friends that I’ve been doing theater with this whole time,” said Curtis.
