As the student body president of CHAIN Link, Rose Bhullar has been committed to creating an environment where the students of CHAIN Link can truly flourish. Bhullar’s commitment to fostering a supportive and collaborative environment has made a significant impact on her peers and the broader school community.
Bhullar’s leadership style is characterized by her ability to balance authority with approachability. She fosters open communication among council members, encouraging them to share ideas and receive feedback.
“I think Rose is a really good supporter of other people. Like she has initiative and ideas and she will follow through with them,” CHAIN Link senior sponsor Ali McDillon said. “But I think where she shines, where it’s hard for other kids at this point to do, is if other kids have ideas, she’s really good about helping them execute those ideas.”
Bhullar manages the responsibilities of student body president while maintaining her academic commitments. She demonstrates strong time management skills, allowing her to effectively balance her roles as a president and a student.
“This year, I’ve had the realization that also my physical health matters, and my mental health matters,” Bhullar said. “I make sure I’m getting enough sleep, otherwise I’m not going to be able to do all these things.”
Her peers acknowledge that her demeanor is positive and serves as a source of motivation for others, especially during stressful times.
“I feel like she just she has a good way of transitioning from President mode to student mode,” senior class president Faith Opafola said.
When faced with challenges, Bhullar remains calm and focused, providing reassurance and support to her fellow council members. This “calm in the storm” approach has been instrumental in maintaining a productive environment during meetings and events.
“Her being able to stay focused and calm, I think, keeps our meetings focused and calm, versus, like, kind of all over the place, and not being able to accomplish the things we need to accomplish,” McDillon said. “I think that, more than anything, has the biggest impact on the organization.”
She is involved in various school initiatives, having organized events last year such as Teacher Appreciation Week where her ideas helped structure the program. She facilitates collaboration among students on these projects, demonstrating her leadership role in various school functions.
“I’ve seen her grow in her own ability to handle setbacks and, you know, collaborating with other people,” McDillon said. “But I think her ability to kind of get that [stress] out of our system, and then stand up and move on and keep moving forward is really impressive.”
Additionally, her work with the Student Advisory Board highlights her dedication to representing student voices in discussions with school administration. By gathering feedback from her peers, Bhullar ensures that the student body’s concerns are heard and addressed.
“She’ll ask the board if there’s anything that we’ve gotten from students, and she’ll try and implement that,” senior Jeremiah Parker, a member of the Student Advisory Board, said. “[Just] upcoming plans, such as the winter formal that we tried to hold in January. That fell through, but it might not have been possible at all if Student Advisory Board and Rose weren’t working together.”
As Bhullar continues her tenure as president, she remains committed to her mission of building an engaged student community.
“There’s a lot of work that we do, with like Riley and getting to know other schools,” Bhullar said. “It’s being in a position where you can represent more people.”

Her leadership extends beyond CHAIN Link; she is also the President of the Indiana Association of Student Councils, where she has taken on responsibilities that further her influence and advocacy for students across the state.
“She runs the state meeting, so she’s in charge of the agenda, what we’re doing, what we’re covering, and then she’s also in charge [of a long list of other things],” McDillon said. “She has to work with all of the other board members, specifically for State, she is on several committees, at workshops, conventions and stuff.”
With her dedication, the students and teachers of CHAIN Link believe that Bhullar embodies the qualities of a true leader that’ll make a positive impact within the school and community.
“Last year I was a culture fair director, and, like, obviously, being culture fair director, that’s a lot of work, and I’d say that needed to outsource that work and Rose was there,” Opafola said. “I’d say a lot of her good ideas became realities, because she’s just very outspoken about things and culture fair ended up being like after school for one of the first times in a few years, and it was a good, positive outcome because of her.”
In the coming months, Bhullar will focus on leading initiatives aimed at increasing student involvement and fostering a sense of community at BHS.
“This year we’ve been able to build back a lot of what it [Riley Week] used to be. Hopefully, in the future, more people will do that, and I think that would be one of the biggest accomplishments,” Bhullar said.
